MEDICAL MARIJUANA

Med-Mar Bill Introduced in Arkansas
LITTLE ROCK, AR--House Bill 1303, which would allow seriously ill patients to utilize marijuana as part of their therapies has recently been introduced to the Arkansas legislature. The bill would allow patients who have a doctor's recommendation to cultivate and use cannabis for a variety of illnesses and disorders, including cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, chronic diseases and multiple sclerosis. It would require registration with the state. Patients would be allowed to possess three mature plants, four immature plants and one ounce of marijuana per each mature plant.

Other Medical-Marijuana Legislation
The bill in Arkansas is the newest medical-marijuana measure introduced this year. Earlier in January, bills were introduced in Texas, Connecticut, Wyoming and South Dakota, although the latter two have already been killed in committee. Additional bills are expected to be introduced shortly in Maryland, Florida and New Mexico.
